Male Infertility Treatment

When Is The Best Time To Seek Infertility Treatment?

Infertility is quite a common problem here in the United States. According to statistics, one out of every seven couples in this country will experience problems associated with Fertility. This means that there are approximately six million couples in this country that are unable to get pregnant via normal means. So if you’re finding it hard to conceive, you definitely aren’t alone.
Part of the problem is that we’re waiting much longer than we once did before having Children, and other factors such as poor lifestyle choices and the prevalence of obesity are having an impact on our fertility too. If you and your partner are having difficult conceiving you may wish to have your doctor run a series of tests to see if you could benefit from infertility treatment, but first you need to make sure that you’re living right.

First Amend Your Lifestyle

Infertility can be caused by numerous factors such being overweight, lack of exercise, smoking, drug abuse and alcohol consumption. If you abuse or neglect yourself then you shouldn’t be surprised if you have difficulty when it comes to conceiving a child. Nor should you seek infertility treatment until you’ve taken the appropriate measures to amend your lifestyle.
If you and your partner are trying to get pregnant then make sure that both of you lead active healthy lifestyles, eat well and avoid smoking, taking drugs or drinking too much alcohol. Taking a good multivitamin is also a good idea if you are hoping to conceive. If you have amended your lifestyle and you still experience problems, then it may be time to talk to your doctor about infertility treatment.

If It’s A Male Issue

Your doctor will run a series of test to find out what is causing the infertility. This can be a lengthy process, so patience is a must. Once the doctor knows what the problem is he or she will recommend an infertility treatment. Whenever there’s a problem with conception women tend to assume there’s something wrong with them, but the difficulty could just as easily be associated with the man’s fertility.
Male infertility treatment often focuses on problems of a sexual description such as low libido. Sometimes therapy is needed and medication is often prescribed in the endeavor to eliminate the problem. If the trouble is that the man simply has a low sperm count then surgery is always an option. There is also a procedure whereby sperm can be collected from the man’s epididymis.

When It’s A Female Thing

There are a several infertility treatments that are available for women. The first course of action is generally to try various medications and hormones that encourage ovulation. If medications are ineffective the next option is Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART), which is a term used to encompass various procedures that can be carried out in order to remove eggs from the woman’s reproductive system, combine them with the male’s spermatozoa in a laboratory setting and then deposit the embryos in the woman’s uterus. Various factors determine how successful ART infertility treatment is likely to be. A great deal depends on the type of ART, the age of the woman involved and the standard of the clinic that carries out the infertility treatment.
